I woke up to find that my 4 month old American Bulldog had diarrhea, vomiting and seemed off balance. He seemed fine the day before, I am not sure what could be wrong. He is still eating and drinking. Also, there was some yellow spots on his bed.
He vomited a couple times within the last month and one of those times a pair of underwear was in the puke. I am a very neat and organized person but with two children sometimes things are in his reach that shouldn't be. Any ideas as to what could be wrong?
Thanks, Denise
Hi Denise
Puppies definitely have a tendency to eat all sorts of stuff they shouldn't and it sounds as though your pup is no different!
I'd recommend that you read my puppy diarrhea and puppy vomiting pages as they can help you figure out if this is just a 'dietary indiscretion' or something more. Meantime make sure he drinks plenty of water so that he stays hydrated.
If you are at all worried that he may have gotten into something toxic or poisonous, call the Poison Control Hotline or get the number for the Animal Poison Control Center from my dog poisoning page. It also has tips and advice to help you.
I know how difficult it can be to totally 'puppy proof' a home, especially when you have children, so I'd recommend using a crate or puppy playpen to contain your pup when you can't be supervising him. That will help to reduce the opportunity for him to get into stuff.
Best of luck, hope he's doing much better soon.
