i have a four month old pitbull puppy and i have been noticing her teeth are falling out... she has lost a total of 3 teeth... one in the back of her mouth in the front and one of her k9s.

she's also not eating as much... i think her mouth hurts when she does eat. is it normal for her to be losing teeth and what can i do to make it easier for her to eat. she has been losing a little bit of weight.

Hi Kisha
Yes, it's perfectly normal for a puppy to be teething at this age, it usually ends somewhere around the 6 month mark.

During this time a puppy may feel some pain/discomfort when eating or chewing on toys, but it's not normally extreme. If your pup seems to be in a lot of pain, or refuses to eat, then I'd recommend having your vet take a look to make sure that everything is going okay.

Other than that, to help minor discomfort you can get special 'teething' toys for puppies that can be cooled and are soothing. A home-made alternative is to buy a bunch of wash-cloths and soak them in water, wring them out and then freeze them. Puppies love to play with these and they're soothing on the gums. If you do this just remember to keep an eye on your pup and take away any cloths that get torn up or ragged, you don't want her eating them.

Ice cubes are also fun for puppies to play with - during teething and hot days especially.

Best of luck with your pup.
