My 4 month old pitbull puppy is making a heavy weezing noise

I just got a 4 month old pit puppy she is wheezing really heavily. She doesn't do it all the time but it almost sounds like her throat is closed up. It mainly happens when she whines from excitement.

I am not sure if I should get her seen or if it's a puppy thing. I have 4 other pits in the house and never had these issues with them when they were younger, so I don't think the breed matters.

I would recommend having this checked out by your veterinarian as it doesn't sound normal, and definitely needs to be evaluated.

It could be dog allergies of some sort, or perhaps a respiratory infection, asthma or she may even have a problem with her trachea or nasal passages.

As it doesn't seem to affect her all the time, and you don't say that it's causing her real difficulty, it probably isn't an emergency, but I'd suggest getting her examined soon as depending on what's causing the wheezing, it could conceivable get worse.

My pit puppy is 13 weeks old & does the exact same thing when he sleeps...it worries me but ive had him since he was 5 weeks old & he has always done it. It is concerning, but dont have money right now for a vet bill not sure what to do...any advice?

i just got a 4 mo old pit bull puppy, too, and he is doing the same thing.Breathing heavily, but not quite a wheeze, just odd and a little scary with our new pup. It mostly happens when he is excited or getting attention & praise but it also starts when he is getting cuddled and going to sleep, almost like a heavy snore. but it isnt continuous.....I was told that his dad and sister both do the same thing and have been given a clean bill of health. Of course I still want some advice, seeing that they sold him to me out of not so great cirrcumstances, for a pretty penny. He is so worth it!
