My 4 y/o Shih Tzu has pink lumps inside her mouth?

by Candra
(Boston)

My 4 y/o Shih Tzu has 4 pink lumps inside her mouth, their not on her gum's, but on the lid's (sides) of her mouth.

She's had them for a few month's now, I had taken her to the Vet as soon as I noticed a few month's back, they said they had no clue what it could be and that they'd have to knock her out to take them out and see what it could be, but that's only if they bothered her, at the time they weren't.

I noticed a couple of day's ago, when she licks that side of her mouth or eats something, she starts shaking as if she's in pain. Money is pretty tight right now, so I have them knock her out for 700$. I want to know if theres anything I can give her for pain, or if anyone has ever had this problem with their dog?

Hi Candra
I would definitely take your dog back to the veterinarian and have them take another look at these lumps.

Benign tumors, called Epulis, can occur and although they don't spread as cancerr does, they do need to be removed as they can damage underlying tissue and bone, and cause pain.

A biopsy (taking a small part of the tumor under anasthetic for examination) is the only way to treat these, and I recommend getting your vet to do this.

Best of luck!
