MY 8 DAY OLD YORKIE HAS SWOLLEN EYES AND COLD COMING OUT OF THEM, WAS NOT THAT WAY YESTERDAY. NOTICED WHEN I GOT HOME FROM WORK.
WHAT SHOULD I DO, AND WHAT CAN BE THE PROBLEM? THE OTHER PUPS ARE FINE!
Hi Ebony
Swollen eyes and pus in a puppy or dog of any age indicate infection, and you need to have this little one examined by your veterinarian asap.
It could be a localized infection (ie only affecting the eye/s), or it could be a symptom of a more systemic infection or disease. Only your vet can make an accurate diagnosis.
Infections or illness are often contagious and although your other puppies are fine right now, they could end up with the same problem, so watch out for that.
Get your pup to your vet for an exam and treatment just as soon as you can that way you will minimize any complications and the chances of the rest of the litter being affected.
Best of luck, hope your puppy is doing much better soon.
