My chihuahua is sick?

by Haley
(Shallotte, NC, USA)

My chihuahua has been acting weird lately.. He won't eat, He's been shivering a lot lately, His ears are cold, His eyes are pink..

Is he sick? If so how sick is he?

Hi Haley
It certainly sounds as though your pup is sick. All of those symptoms can indicate illness or infection.

I'm afraid I can't tell you exactly what is wrong, but I can say that he definitely needs to see a veterinarian asap.

Tiny dogs need to eat regularly or they can have trouble regulating their blood sugar levels, this alone can lead to serious problems. If he's not drinking much as well, he could be dehydrated - another big problem.

There isn't any way for you to know what is causing him to feel so bad, so please get him to a vet as soon as you can. He may need medications such as antibiotics to help him get better. Chihuahuas are tiny dogs and they can be delicate health-wise, it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Best of luck, hope your little guy is doing much better soon.
