Thanks for the info. My friend told me he got the pup from a breeder. Well, he's not that close to me so I'm not even sure that was true or not.
Anyhow, I would have to think the dog is much younger than 2 months. She's eating fine, playful, and behaves well. As far as I could tell from her appearance, she's a Malinois, but I could be wrong.
Thanks

Sounds a bit fishy to me by: barrie
I have a Belgian Malinois and 3.5 lbs for an 8 week old mal is way way small. I have experience with three separate litters of malinois puppies all from Dutch lines which are a bit larger than American bred mals full grown but my girl is at the lowest limit in both height and weight and she definitely weighed more than 3.5 pounds at 8 weeks. At 9 years, my malinois is 21" at the whithers and 50 pounds. Compare that to my 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier who is 12.5" at the whithers and 9.5 lbs. My jack weighed only 2 pounds at 8 weeks. My 35 pound, 18 month old Australian Cattle dog weighed about 9 pounds at 8 weeks.
Either the dog is much younger than 8 weeks, it isn't a malinois or there have been serious nutrient deficiencies. It is also very unusual for an 8 week old mal puppy to just be given away like that. Where did your friend get the puppy?
