My Miracle Puppy

Biscotti a true survivor

Biscotti a true survivor

Well my puppy has a unique and touching story as to how she came into my life.

I am veterinary technician at a privately owned animal hospital. An owner had brought in their Boston terrier because they had noticed she was getting "fat" come to find out she was pregnant. The owners unaware of how long she had been pregnant for opted to do a C section because they did not want to risk possibly losing their dog if she had the puppies naturally. The C section was preformed an three puppies where born about 1 week premature.

One of the puppies unfortunately passed after being born. Two had survived thus far. After mom had awoken from surgery we tried to get her to nurse the puppies. She was terrified and rejected them. The puppies did not want to nurse off a bottle so I had to tube feed them by passing a small flexible tub down into their stomach. The doctor decided it would be best if I took them home just for the night. That night one of the puppies had sadly passed away. The next day the owners of the dog decided they did not want the puppy and signed ownership of the 18 hour old puppy over to me.

The Doctor had made it known to me that chances of her surviving were not the greatest. And so our journey began, I was up all hours of the night with her tube feeding and trying to get her to nurse off a bottle. She was a fighter. She lived and each day got stronger and stronger. Now she is 9 months old and just full of life. She is mixed with a Boston terrier and Toy yorkie.
