My Moses 9 weeks old is too quick.

Hi I'm Maria, and as you can see we just brought home a 9 week old Boxer pup named Moses.

He is so quick and spry that before I noticed where he was, as I was opening a door, he got in the way and got bumped by the door. He looked traumatized and would not go in and out of that door without coaxing afterwards.

But now he is holding that poor little leg up at times, but he still runs and plays, and uses it. Do dogs get "goose-eggs" or bruises? what kind of damage could I have done? I am sick over it.

Please help.

Looking forward to your advice, Maria

Hi Maria
Yes, puppies can get under your feet a lot of the time. The bigger breeds are often a bit 'clumsy', but at least it's not as easy to seriously hurt them as it is with tiny/toy breeds.

I can't really tell what damage may have been done, but holding up his leg and/or limping is pretty normal. It probably hurts.

If you can't see any swelling or injury, and he can put weight on his paw, it may just be some temporary pain involved. However, if he continues to hold it up for more than a day, or seems to be in pain, you need to have a veterinarian take a look to make sure nothing is broken or damaged inside.

Don't be too hard on yourself over this. Accidents happen, and puppies are like children - always getting into something they shouldn't. I expect your pup will be just fine soon.

Best of luck.
