My pug is shaking, panting, and having a hard time breathing, what's wrong with him?

My 4 year old pug tried to jump over a wooden barrier today that is not much bigger than him, but he hit himself, it looked like his leg because he kept limping but now he's having a hard time breathing and he is shaking and panting, what's wrong with him?

Hi Molly
You need to get your Pug to a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Although you don't know what sort of injury he may have done to himself when he jumped, the fact that he's panting, shaking and having trouble breathing means that he is either in pain or shock. He could have broken or fractured a bone, or perhaps torn a ligament or injured himself internally. Only your vet can make the correct diagnosis and you I strongly recommend that you get your dog to him asap.

Pugs are short-nosed breeds, and can have breathing difficulties at the best of times, if he's experiencing problems it could turn into something serious if left untreated, so get him some veterinary help right away.

I wish you the best of luck and hope your little guy is doing much better soon.

Dog with collapsed lung
by: patricia

my dog is also doing the same thing. she acquired a collapsed lung when she was a puppy.(this was before I got her) I don't think there is any thing vets can do for her. I don't know when to have her put to sleep. I don't want her to suffer. Any thoughts on this. Please help me ease my mind.

Back Problems
by: Anonymous

Our pug was doing this. When we called the vet, they said it could be something caught in the throat. When we couldn't find anything, we went to the vet and found out our pug is having back problems. It is good we went in to get her checked.
