My pups 2 weeks old and this am at 10 am we had to take him to the vet to get an enema. Its now 5:52 pm and he hasn't pooed since the enema.
We've tried a few drops of mineral oil but this hasn't seemed to do the trick. While rubbing trying to get him to he acts like he's trying to but never gets it out.
What does this mean and what should i do?
Hi Maleah
It sounds as though your puppy may still be constipated. New Born Puppies who aren't being nursed by their momma's tend to get this way.
As your veterinarian gave him an enema this morning, it could be that he won't need to poop again for a little longer. An enema really 'cleans him out'!
However, if he still hasn't pooped by tomorrow then I would recommend calling your veterinarian and asking for advice. It may be that he (or she) will need to see your pup again.
If you are bottle feeding this little guy, you could try giving him a little bit of plain, warm, boiled water to drink as this might help. And do keep rubbing his lower abdomen area after feeding him as this helps him to 'go'.
If in doubt, take him back to your vet though. I wish you lots of luck and hope he's doing much better soon.
