My puppy is throwing up

I have a 5 week old puppy, before any of you ask why so young I rescued him from a shelter.

I have had him for about 3 days now and he throws up when ever he drinks water. what can I give him? Some people have suggested i give him peptobismol.

oh I have been feeding him puppy formula. Should I take him to the vet or am i exaggerating?

Your puppy is old enough to be lapping water and eating dry puppy food (moistened with warm water 10 mins before serving if necessary). He doesn't need milk anymore.

However, if he's not able to drink without vomiting you need to take him to your veterinarian for a check up. There could be an underlying physical problem that needs to be taken care of.

It's possible that he just drinks too fast, in that case use a shallow bowl and only give him a little water at a time, topping it up as he finishes it.

Puppies can get dehydrated quickly, so it's important to take care of this problem quickly. Best of luck with your new pup.
