SHE'S VERY LAZY AND REFUSE'S TO PLAY AT ALL. SHE IS ALSO VERY SCARED. EVERY TIME WE WALK BY SHE PUT'S HER HEAD DOWN, AND WHEN WE START TO PET HER SHE SHAKES.
PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS. THANK YOU
Hi Isaiah
Poor little Shila, she's just a baby, and some puppies are just less confident than others. It sounds as though she's having a bit of a difficult time adjusting to her new home.
The 'laziness' is a reaction to the stress of leaving her momma and littermates, and coming into a new home and family. This is a very common reaction, and may last anywhere from a couple of days to a week or so.
Gradually, as she becomes more confident, she will start to be more active and playful. She just needs time to adjust.
It's important to give her lots of love and attention to help her feel safe and to build up her self-confidence. She'll also need time and here own 'space' to sleep and relax, this helps her to get over her nerves and feel more at home.
This sort of pup needs gentle handling and a quiet voice. If you raise your voice to her, or try to make her play or interact, she will retreat even further into herself out of fear. Try to allow her to come to you, rather than you go to her. She will do this in time, once she begins to trust you fully.
I think my New Puppy Care page might be helpful to you. It has lots of tips and advice and links to other articles/topics that are important to new puppy owners.
Best of luck with Shila.
