My Boston Terrier puppy, Casper, was 6 weeks old when I got him and he got a high fever and cold after first vaccination with 102.7^ Temp. The doctor gave an Anit-Biotic white color syrup and another pink syrup for his fever and sneezing. After 3 days he got better.
Now after 2 weeks I realize his WRISTS of both hands are bending towards out more and more each day and he walks unusual. When he sits, his hands are wide open and you can see his wrist bumping towards out and I'm scared that maybe the bone structure of his hands are not shaping properly.
I give him "EUKANUBA for food, and also Animal Milk powder "NEU ZEA" brand. Please help me. Could it be the effect of the anti-biotic ?
Hi Salar
Your puppy is suffering from something called 'knuckling over', it's most often seen in large or giant breed puppies, but can affect any breed.
Many times it's caused by a dietary deficiency, or an imbalance in nutrients. Eukanuba food isn't the best one around but it's not bad either, I'm not sure about the milk you're giving him and I'd actually recommend that you stop giving him that and give him plain water to drink. It's possible that he's getting too much calcium and this can cause bone/joint problems.
Often dietary changes can help fix this problem, and your vet may also be able to show you how to wrap his pasterns (the wrist joint on the front legs) so that you can support the joint in the right position and hopefully it will become stronger.
There's a great article on this subject, which has tips and advice on diet and supplements to use to correct it here.... Puppy Feed Program for Knuckling Over I think it will help you a lot.
Best of luck, hope your pup is doing much better soon.
