Hi Gareth
Some puppies do get the hiccups quite a bit, but they it's generally nothing to worry about and they grow out of it as they mature.
Adult dogs don't get the hiccups!
In my personal experience it seems that deep-chested breeds tend to get hiccups more often than some other breeds, but I'm not certain if that's significant or not.
If your puppy is eating or drinking very quickly, she may be swallowing too much air and that's causing more hiccups than usual. If this is the case, feed her in a wide shallow bowl to slow down her eating and drinking.
Although this is usually nothing to worry about, if she seems in distress when she's hiccuping, or they seem to last an excessively long time, then mention it to your veterinarian at her next check-up. Sometimes you just need to follow your instincts and if you're worried have it checked out.
Hope this helps, best of luck with your puppy.
