by Dawn
(Northumberland)

My 8 week old staffie is rubbing his backside on the floor mostly just before he needs the toilet and just after he has been he has whined when doing this but not all the time he also licks the floor while he is rubbing himself.

He has been wormed all 3 times he has also had his glands done (4 days ago) and it is still happening is this something i should worry about or not?
Thank you

Hi Dawn
This sort of behavior is usually a sign of either Puppy Worms or full/infected anal glands.

As he's been dewormed, and had his anal glands expressed, very recently, then I would give it a few more days and see if he settles down. Sometimes it can take a little while for the medicine to work, and he may still be a bit uncomfortable.

If he continues to do this after a few days, I'd take him back to the vet and ask them to take a look and make sure that he's not got an infection in his glands, or some other health problem.

Best of luck, hope he's feeling better soon.
