Crate/cage training is great if you do it properly, you must put the puppy in a small crate at first, putting him in a larger one just gives him room for a toilet. Small crates are inexpensive and well worth the cost - 2nd hand crates are dificult to obtain so you will be able to sell the small crate once puppy has out grown it. Our 10 week old springer spaniel settled in fantastic, and only cried the 1st night after 6 hours, since then he has slept 8 hours at night with no problem. I dont agree with having the crate in the bedroom with you, what we did was purchase a 2nd hand baby alarm and used that at night time - again this can be sold on when no longer required. We have 2 springers now and i would 100% recommend crate training - but do it the correct way !

Thank you so much! Lily is doing great. Instead of putting her in the crate if I am making breakfast or dinner, I have been attaching her leash to the kitchen table.
