At night our puppy will eliminate outside then when she comes back in she will eliminate again in a time span of about 5-20 minutes.
She seems to do this several times in the evening. Why can she hold it longer during the day and at night she seems to go quite often?
Hi Douglas During the day your pup is eating and drinking several times, this builds up in her digestive system and that's why she needs to go more often in the evening. Many pups need at least one or two over-night potty breaks as well to begin with.
In fact, when you're potty training a puppy you'll often find that a pup needs to pee and poop more than once during their first and last potty breaks of the day. It would seem that you have a routine set up and your pups digestive system is starting to become regulated, this is a good thing.
Now that you know when she is most likely to need to eliminate often, you can be proactive in taking her outside frequently and preventing accidents. As she grows and matures, her bladder and bowel control will improve and she won't need to go immediately she feels the urge, or as often.
