pekingese is sick

I have an 8 year old female pekingese. For the last 4 days she has been panting really hard and shakes when she moves around and sometimes yelps when moved.

She does not want to eat or drink. Have been syringing water down so she won't dehydrate. On day 3 she ate hamburger/rice late p.m. and drank on her own. Day 4 she is still panting hard and will not eat or drink.

Yelped when I touched her neck. What could it be?

Hi
I'm so sorry but I'm not a veterinarian, and there's absolutely no way I can tell what is causing your dogs' symptoms, she needs to be seen by a veterinarian where a 'hands-on' exam can be done.

The shaking and yelping indicate that she's in pain/distress and the lethargy and refusal to eat or drink mean that she's feeling extremely ill.

Please get her to a vet right away as she needs professional and expert help. The sooner you get a diagnosis and treatment for her the easier and less expensive it will be. She is relying on you to help her, don't let her down.

I wish you the best of luck and hope that your dog makes a full recovery.

Thanks so much for your advice. Fortunately, my dog is much better. Started her on a bland diet and gave aspirin for dogs. She is now eating and drinking. Still acts as though she may be sore. My only guess and the vets guess is that she may have a pulled muscle, as she loves to play and shake her toys. Taking it easy and letting her rest. Thanks
