Pitbull puppy walking on the side of her paws

My pitbull puppy 11 weeks old has recently started walking on the side of her paws.

Now she doesn't walk with her paws flat it's bothering me but she doesn't wine bark growl or anything when I touch them.

What could be the problem?

Hi Chris
What you're describing could be the early stages of a condition called 'knuckling over'. It's most often seen in large or giant breed puppies, but Pitbulls seem to be susceptible to developing it as well.

It's basically a weakness in the 'ankle' joint and can be exacerbated by dietary problems.

The best resource for information on this and advice as to how to handle it is on this page.... Puppy Feed Program for Knuckling Over. There are also photos there that you can take a look at and will help to confirm whether or not this is what you are seeing in your puppy.

I'd also recommend having your veterinarian examine your puppy and give you advice or recommendations as to what you can do to help hin moderate to severe cases dietary changes, wrapping the joint and other treatments may be needed to ensure that her legs do not end up malformed.

If it isn't 'knuckling over' that's the problem, your vet will also be able to diagnose what IS causing her to walk this way and help her get back to normal.

Hope this helps, best of luck with your puppy.
