this is the best pic he would let me get i hope it is of some help
ok i just started taking my puppy, cornbread, to wyman park dell, and one section of it is like a dog park he has had his parvo shots and all that the only thing left is his rabies shot.
but i took him down anyway and he drank some of the water down there a couple days ago and i haven't took him down there in two days now but last night i noticed he had some yellow stuff coming out of his one eye and it looks red under and allmost like its about to pop out it might just be swollen it just doesn't look right. i thought well maybe it was something like pink eye so i tried to flush it but a little while later it went right back to mucus coming out and red in his eye so i tried giving him chicken soup because i know that sometimes it can be like a cold.
he is eating fine still wants to play i gave him a bath cus this morning when i woke up and went to the bathroom when i came back he was throwing up and it was like whiteish yellowish foam but any way i feed him some chicken soup with his dog food and an orange. he still wants to play and all that and his poop isnt diarrea but his eye is just real nasty so if you could help me please with any idea of what is going on that would be greatly appreciated.
i will try to upload a pic but its hard to get him just right where i can take it.
Hi Kim
I'm sorry about your poor puppys' eye. I'm afraid that I'm not a vet and can't make a professional diagnosis, but it sounds to me as though he has conjunctivitis or an eye infection of some sort.
He's had all his shots which is excellent, and should rule out the more serious infections. He could have developed this from getting something in his eye, from scratching or injuring it in some way, or it could possibly be a symptom of an upper-respiratory tract infection - kind of like the cold you mention.
The color and nature of the discharge suggests that he may well need antibiotic treatment for this, so you will need to take him to your veterinarian as soon as possible. Generally conjunctivitis is fairly simple to treat with antibiotics, but left untreated it could cause serious problems.
The vomiting may well just be due to the change in diet with the soup etc., but do tell your vet about it too, in case it is relevant.
I wish you the very best of luck, and I hope that Cornbread is feeling much better soon.
