PUG - Hemorrhoid?

I noticed today that there is a strange looking thing sticking out of my pug's rectum. It almost looks like a swollen cyst.

Please see picture. I am wondering if it's a hemorrhoid or something else.

Also, if this is something I can fix myself or if I need to go to the vet.

It's most likely a hemorrhoid, small breed pups and dogs tend to get constipated more easily than the larger breeds, and the straining involved in passing a bowel movement can cause hemorrhoids.

It's best not to mess with this sort of problem yourself, I'd recommend taking your pup to the vet and having him examine him/her.

That way you can be sure you have an accurate diagnosis and if there is any treatment necessary then you can get it taken care of.
