Puppies., how do I find a new home for these pups?

(Harlingen, Texas)

One i was sitting at home minding my own business when i realized that there were two puppies sitting in my driveway. They couldn't be more than a year old at the most. They looked pretty healthy except for their lack proper feeding. They were VERY skinny, but that didn't stop them from loving up on me. I fed them and they ate four bowls of food together.

They are definitely brother and sister. The brother (who we have named Clyde) always let his sister (Bonnie) eat first. It was so cute seeing them together. I am taking good care of them with help from my family. Making sure that they are feed twice a day and have plenty of water. They seem to catch on when I say "No", so they must me smart. They look kind of like a Bull Terrier Labrador mix. I do love them, they are so kind and energetic.

The thing is i just don't know if we can keep them. I am afraid to send them to the humane society because I don't trust the people there. I don't know what to do next. It would be nice to have some advice as quickly as possible.

Thank you

Hi Abigail
The people at your local humane society are dedicated to taking care of pets that are lost, abandoned or neglected, and I think you should be able to trust them. However, if your local shelter has a policy of euthanizing pets after a certain period (this time frame can vary from shelter to shelter and state to state), you may rather find a private dog rescue organization or try to find a permanent home for these pups yourself.

It's not necessarily going to be easy to find them the right forever home, and finding one for both of them together is doubly difficult. However, as you've already grown to love these pups and are taking care of them, if you can't keep them permanently then the responsibility falls to you as they don't have anyone else.

I'd recommend calling around some local shelters and rescues, or even asking your own veterinarian for advice as to how to find them a good home/s. It can most definitely be done, it just takes time and effort, but the reward will be that they both live happy lives and are loved.

God Bless you for taking the time to give them a chance and I hope that you get them the home that they need. Good luck.
