Puppy breathing fast when asleep

Just got a new black lab pup and he's very calm and gentle yet when he sleeps he is breathing really fast, should I be worried?

Hi
I doubt very much that you have anything to worry about. Puppies tend to breathe very quickly, even erratically, when they're asleep.

They may also whine, twitch, bark and so on. It's perfectly normal.

The only time I would be concerned is if his breathing seems very rapid or erratic when he's awake, or if he shows any other signs of dog illnesses.

It will likely settle down as he gets older. Hope this puts your mind at rest. Best of luck with your new puppy.
