puppy choking

I just adopted a 7 month old puppy from the humane society he was there only 3 hours before I brought him home. He was neutered the next day, that was 5 days ago yesterday and today he was making choking noises and brought up some phlegm.

Why would he be doing that. It almost sounds as if he is coughing. Please give me an idea as to what is bothering him.

It's possible that your pup ate something he shouldn't have and it caused him to gag and vomit, or it could be that he had a very empty tummy.... that can cause a dog to vomit up bile/acid. It looks like a yellow/green liquid and is foamy.

Or it could be that he has a dog illness such as Kennel Cough, or a respiratory tract infection.

I would recommend that if he repeats this behavior, that you take him to your own vet to be checked out just to make sure everything is okay.
