Puppy dandruff

i have an almost 8 week old miniature dachshund. i see that she somewhat looks like she's losing some hair on her face an that her skin looks somewhat dandruffy!

And she keeps scratching as if she has fleas but i thoroughly checked her and no fleas were found. PLEASE HELP!!!

Puppy dandruff, hair loss and itching can be caused by dog allergies, parasites such as Mange or fleas (although if you can't see any signs of fleas you may be able to rule them out), too much bathing (or using a too-strong shampoo) which causes extra-dry skin and so on.

I'd recommend that you have your vet take a look at your pup to rule out parasites or illness. Providing all is well, you just may want to keep an eye on things and avoid bathing your puppy for a few weeks to see if that improves matters.

If not, then dog food allergies may need to be considered. Dachshunds are a breed that's pre-disposed to hypothyroidism which can result in hair loss, but it usually shows up in older dogs rather than pups so I doubt this is the issue.
