told possibly congenital kidney displasia but he seems healthy, enjoys his food, very happy in himself, just drinks a lot of water and wees a lot.
Hi Cindy
I'm sorry to hear that your pup may be sick, but I'm not sure how the diagnosis was made, or by whom, and whether or not it's accurate.
There could be several possible reasons for a puppy drinking a LOT of water, and urinating excessively and only a vet can make an accurate diagnosis. However, congenital kidney dysplasia (aka Juvenile Renal Disease) is a possibility. This is a genetic condition that appears in certain dog breeds and there is no cure for it.
Many puppies will seem healthy apart from the symptoms mentioned, but more severe symptoms will appear almost always before the pup is 2 years old. Although there's no 'cure' if diagnosed and treated early enough (while pup appears generally healthy as yours does) the length and quality of life can be improved.
I found this article which goes into more detail and may help you... www.vetprof.com/juvenile renal. Your own vet should be your best source of help and information though and will be able to help you decide what to do to help your pup should he get a confirmed diagnosis.
I'm sorry I can't help more but I wish you all the best of luck.
