Puppy Growling At Me?
KiKi
Hello,
Please help me. I was looking at my puppy and he growled at me for no reason. What does that mean?
Hi
I wouldn't worry about this too much. It was probably just that your pup was trying to communicate with you. I doubt that it was an aggressive overture.
Young puppies usually don't act aggressively. If you were looking directly at your pup without moving or saying anything, he may have been confused about what you were doing. A little growl could just be a way of saying "What are you looking at!".
If he growled at you when you were correcting him for something, taking something away from him, grooming him and so on, then I would say he was just trying to express some dominance. Again, pretty normal and nothing to be really concerned about.
If he repeatedly growls at you though, be sure to correct him with a firm "NO GROWL" command. Don't ever shout or act aggressively when correcting him though, it will only scare him and probably make the behavior worse.
You've got an adorable puppy. Best of luck with him!
