puppy has green poop

Hi,
I have a 6 month old lab mixed puppy and she's been having green stools for about a month.

What does this mean? A vet has told us that it could be an enzyme deficiency, if so, what can we do to cure it?

Thanks

Hi
Loose, or oddly colored stools can be caused by all sorts of things, from the food a pup eats, to infection, food intolerance and more.

If your pup is showing any other signs of illness, such as vomiting, lethargy and so on, then it could be some sort of underlying infection or intestinal disturbance.

If she has skin problems such as itchy skin, red patches or hot spots or rashes, or has ear problems/infections it could be that she's suffering from dog allergies.

The only way to tell for sure is to have your vet take a stool sample and run some tests. As for a dietary deficiency, as long as she's eating a premium puppy food (see my puppy kibble page for more on this), then she should be getting everything she needs.

Have your vet take a look at her. Best of luck.
