Can puppies have nightmares?

It would seem so! It's not unusual for puppies to cry, whimper, bark, twitch or 'run' in their dreams.

Sometimes it certainly appears that they're upset of frightened. I'm sure that sleep/dreams work similarly in puppies as they do in humans. His experiences/fears etc. will replay in his sleep.

It's not anything to worry about, and when he wakes up all will be fine.
