Why does my puppy pass gas so much?

Some breeds seem to be more prone to digestive issues such as excessive gas, Bulldogs are a prime example!

However, it's possible that your pup has a food intolerance, or a digestive upset such as an infection of some sort.

Changing to a food that is specifically designed for sensitive tummies (see my Dog Food Allergies page for more on this) may help. You could also try adding a spoonful of natural yogurt (the pro-biotic kind) to his food to help balance the bacteria in his gut.

If he seems happy and healthy otherwise I wouldn't worry too much, but discuss it with your veterinarian for more advice. If he shows other symptoms of illness such as diarrhea or vomiting, then you should have him examined by your vet right away.
