Tanner is a Lab, Pit Bull, Rottweiler mix. Hes 3 months old and his favorite thing to do is play with our guinea pig. Once he turns a year old he will be taking training classes to become a therapy dog.
He loves car rides and going to pet stores, especially when children are around. He has an immense amount of toys and a great bed, but his favorite place to sleep is the laundry basket, even though hes quickly outgrowing it.

When I arrived to "look" at baby Ellie, I knew right away if I took one step closer I would have her in my arms and never put her down. This proved to be true as I did take that one step closer and have not let her out of my sight since!

I knew I had to bring her home because she was malnourished, had worms, fleas and was living outside in freezing temperatures. We already had Molly, our toy fox terrier and couldn't wait to add Ellie (named after my grandfather's initials who passed in May) our new toy rat terrier to the family.

Within 2 days of being in our home, she became nourished and free of fleas, worms and all other ailments! She is thriving, beautiful and I believe you will be able to tell why I have entered her into this photo contest when you see her picture.

Hi I'm Tucker and I think I am a winning pup...here's why.

Not only do I love to cuddle and play but I make my mommy and daddy very happy. My mommy was very sad after loosing her best friend of 17 years and I do a good job of helping her cope.

I am very well behaved. I never chew on stuff I'm not supposed to, I don't beg, I sit when I get a treat, I always go on my wee wee mats and most importantly and let mommy and daddy sleep through the night and never make a peep.

I eat all my food and play very well with others, whether they are my size or not, I'm a big boy and not scared of anything. I am still trying to get the whole leash thing figured out.

I go everywhere with mommy and daddy and fit inside my dogie bag, it's a perfect size for me and my stuffed gecko. Sometimes it takes mommy and daddy forever to get around with me because my adorable face gets so much attention.

I think the coolest thing about me is that I am a very original tri-colored pup. I have a black mask, black tips on my ears, paws and tail, and am white, black and beige all over.

My boyfriend and I went to the flea market in our town about 2 weeks ago and saw Brady and fell absolutely in love with him! He weighs 1 pound and 11 ounces and I think he is the cutest thing in the whole world!

We wanted to do something different to his hair so we decided to have the groomer cut it into a mohawk. I think it brings out his personality and when I look at him all I can do is laugh.

I got my little lady chihuahua January 2, 2009. She has brought nothing but happiness to my life so far. I suffer from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) along with a long list of medical problems. When she see's me crying she comes right up lays on my lap and licks my tears away.

For such a small dog she has a big heart! I think I chose the perfect puppy for my companion. She is viewed as a companion dog and since my kids are older she just loves laying with me and she is doing excellent on her potty training!

Chopper the mini bullie

Chopper is a miniature bulldog. He was born June 8th, 2008 and he was the biggest in his litter. He ran right up to me when he first saw me and i knew he had to be a part of our family. He would run around the pen with a toy in his mouth and his little brothers and sisters would chase him around trying to get the toy from him.

He got sick right before thanksgiving and was hospitalized for pnuemonia and was in an oxygen tank for 2 days. He almost didn't make it but fought a hard fight and I was able to bring him home Thanksgiving night, and boy were we thankful. Even though he was on antibiotics for a month after he was as happy as could be to be home.
He is so playful and loves for the kids to chase him around when he has a toy, just like he did when he was 8 weeks old. He lets the kids dress him up and he knows how to sit and give his paw for a treat.

He always has to be near someone and will often lay on our feet. He also thinks he is a lap dog (even though he is 40 pounds) and loves to give bear hugs. Everyone who meets Chopper falls in love with him, especially the school kids who see him everyday when they get off of the bus...he has a huge fan club.
Someday we hope to breed him and carry on his huge personality and adorable face.

I just rescued Yaffa from a shelter - that's what I thought I did when I brought her home, when in reality she has rescued me.

I have Multiple Sclerosis and was going through some hard depression at the time I got her. With her fun loving disposition for life she has brought back my life to me.

Little did I know that dogs can also rescue humans from their own cages in life. All she needs to do is curl up next to me and look at me with her deep brown eyes and I can feel myself with a smile coming onto my face. All she asks for in return is a belly rub, rub around the ears and some cuddle time.

Since I have had her I bottle fed a litter of Pit Bull Puppies and she treated them like her own. Although she does not appear to ever had her own puppies and is fixed. She was a great mom. Unfortunately the puppies died and she became very depressed.

Safety First

Meet Kane, a full of life Siberian Husky.

He was recently diagnosed with juvenile cataracts. Over the past few months he has led a very healthy life in our care. On Christmas day, Kane began squinting his left eye as if he had gotten something in it. The whites of his eyes were red and irritated.

We took Kane to our vet the next morning, where Kane was diagnosed with conjunctivitis and issued eye drops. A week passed with no improvement so we took Kane to an eye specialist where he was immediately diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. The specialist stressed that as his condition has developed so rapidly that he is in danger of going blind by the end of January and our only hope is surgery.

Obviously shocked about the news we called our pet insurance company only to be turned down because this is a pre-existing illness since juvenile cataracts is hereditary. Unfortunately for us, although our breeder provided us with AKC papers, evidently he did not have his dogs tested for this hereditary defect.

On Thursday, 1/29/09, he went into surgery. 4 hours later the Vet calls and said surgery went perfect and they were able to remove the cataract with no problems at all. Thank god for small miracles.

Bou Bou is our eight-week-old Poosh, and we've had her for four days.

On day two, my daughter and I met for lunch at our local-yocal restaurant, and Bou Bou quietly slept on my lap. Upon awakening she rested her head on the table and my daughter snapped this picture on her cell phone.

She may not win the contest, but she's a winner in our family!! My two grandchildren, Gavin and Zoe, are thrilled that Grandma & Ya Ya got a new puppy.

Sleeping Beauty

This is Bonnie. Her mum is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and her father was a miniature poodle. I got her when she was eight weeks old; she was just a small little fluff ball!

She loves to chase me around in the back garden and loves to fetch her favorite toy. She has so much energy. I must say, she is a very intelligent puppy. She now attends puppy preschool, which she enjoys very much. Bonnie knows how to sit, shake, drop, stay and dance!

We love her to bits, and would not change her for anything.

Hello,

Well my name is Ashley and the cute puppy in the photo, is Jazz. I like to call her Jazzy Girl.

She is two years old and spoiled rotten. She loves going to the park to running around. We live on several acres so she is used to the country life and being a free roamer.

It's funny because she thinks she is the queen-bee around my house. Almost like a guard dog, she sits at the end of road standing guard. But boy does she take advantage of the house life. She has her own couch in the office and her own recliner in the house.

She really is a gentle animal and so loving and oh so smart. Honestly my step dad, at first, would call her useless and her nickname is white-fuzzy-thing. But one night he was really sick and he would go back and forth to the toilet. He said she would go back and forth with him, standing right next to him while he buried his face in the toilet. He said it really made him love her. It was like she really cared.

That is honestly a story my step dad still tells to this day. It was his moment that he fell in love with her. She is just a precious and amazing dog. I really believe she is the perfect member of our family.

It's hard to turn down that cute little face though. I know we couldn't image life without her!!

Myah has just recently joined our family. She has a 5yr old Cocker Spaniel sister and a 2 yr old Dachshund sister.

She wasn't too sure what to do with them at first, but she adjusted well. The three of them are inseparable. Every since we took her home she has been the best puppy ever. She sleeps through the night. In the morning she whines to let us know she needs to go potty and during the day she runs to the door to let us know it's time to go out again. It may not seem like too much of a big deal for a puppy to do that, but she's only 12 weeks old.

She's a beautiful little girl with long eyes lashes and one of her eyes is half ice blue. She's just beautiful!!! We couldn't be happier to have her in our family.

Jed is not only a winner, but a survivor. He was brought to the animal shelter underweight and underage. He was fostered and put back in the shelter for adoption.

That is where I came in. He is friendly, smart, and most of all ADORABLE. He is 17 weeks old and sleeps from 8pm to 7:30 am on the nose. Did I mention that this is straight through?

Bulldozer

Why so serious?

Bulldozer is a pomeranian/shih tzu mix and the cutest puppy in the world. We can watch him for hours and hours and not get bored.

He falls asleep on his back in the midst of playing with his toys, so the toy is still in his mouth and he's sound asleep.

In the daytime, he will ignore you and just want to play with his toys or walk around, but when it comes time to go to sleep, he will not get off your lap because he knows that if he stays on, you can't leave him.

When you give him a treat and then reach in your bag for another treat to give him once he is done with the first one, he stuffs the first one in his mouth so he can try to get the other one at the same right then and there too. You can see that one cheek is stuffed like a chimpmunk where he is hiding the first treat.

When we take him for walks, almost everyone stops to say how cute he is or to pet him, even people who are driving stop and roll down their windows to look at him.

My boyfriend has always been very adamant about never getting a pet, even going as far as to lie to me and say he is allergic to them. However, as soon as we got Bulldozer, he fell in love with him and now can't imagine his life without him.

These are just some reasons why Bulldozer is so great, but I can go on and on and on.

Teddy Bear

Nap Time For Teddy Bear

My baby boy Teddy Bear (a chow chow/dutch shepherd mix) just turned ten weeks old, and he has already been through so much in his short life.

Teddy Bear was born in a high kill shelter in North Carolina. A rescue group in Pennsylvania decided to rescue Teddy and his siblings. Teddy traveled from state to state via other friendly rescue groups for a week, until he finally arrived in his foster home in Albany, New York.

When the pups arrived at their foster home they were taken to the vet, and sadly 3 of the 6 pups had parvo-virus. Teddy Bear and his two sisters were the sick pups. The three of them needed to be hospitalized for about a week.

Unfortunately one of Teddy Bear's sisters passed away. It took a couple of weeks of quarantine with his sister to get the virus out of his system. After Teddy Bear got the parvo out of his system he was diagnosed with a parasite. Thankfully this was easily cured. I am amazed at what Teddy Bear has been through, and he is still the most lovable happy puppy I have ever seen.

I have only had him as my baby for a week and a half now, but I can't imagine my life without him. This is why Teddy Bear is a winner and a survivor.
