puppy poo - 2 week old pups

i took my 2 week old puppies to the vet and they said they looked fine, well i told the vet that two of the puppies weren't eating and they said that's ok they will.

well two of them died over night. i'm worried about the others someone told me if their poo look liked tar and had a really bad smell it meant they had parvo, but the vet said they didn't have it.

so my question is what does a 2week old puppy poo look like and should it smell?

I'm sorry to hear about your puppies dying, that is heartbreaking. I would most definitely recommend taking the remaining pups back to the vet though, as there is clearly something wrong. Healthy newborn puppies just don't stop eating and die suddenly.

As to what their poop looks like/smells like, it depends if they are being fed by their momma, or are on puppy formula. Puppies that are nursing from their mom have dark brown/black feces, if they're being bottle fed it could be anywhere from that to mustard colored. It should be soft and unformed, but not watery. I can't really describe the smell, but it's not horrible.

Puppies that aren't eating at this young age are at serious risk of dehydration, and that could even be what killed the first two. Your vet needs to see them again as they may need IV fluids. If they're sick they may also need antibiotics or other treatment.
