puppy poop problems

My 4 week year old puppy has just been changed to formula, her mom had to be taken away.

She doesn't poop every day but does pee about 5-8 times a day is that normal?

Hi Gloria
At 4 weeks old your pup can begin to be weaned onto a dry premium puppy food thoroughly soaked in warm water or puppy formula. She will need to drink her formula for a bit longer, but should be able to lap, and gradually switch over to just water rather than milk.

Usually by the time a puppy is a month old he/she has control over bodily functions such as peeing and pooping. If your pup isn't pooping every day it could be because she's a constipated little puppy!. Increase her water intake (you can give her water to lap, or add extra water to her formula once she's eating puppy kibble too).

Peeing many times a day is perfectly normal, even at 8 weeks old most pups need to 'go' every 30 mins to an hour. However, if she pees several times within a few minutes, or if she's only passing a couple of drops, then it's possible that she has a UTI and you should have your vet take a look at her.

Hope this helps, best of luck with your puppy.
