How often should a six week old puppy poop? My puppy has not pooped for 2 days, is this normal?

He is barely drinking puppy formula, will hardly eat puppy food. Drinks more formula than he eats puppy food.

Should I take him to the vet?

Hi Dora
It's difficult to say for sure what's going on here as your pup is very young (shouldn't leave his momma until at least 8 weeks old) and is probably very stressed.

There's always a transition period when a pup comes into a new home and loss of appetite and apparent 'depression' is fairly common. I'd recommend reading my Bringing Home A New Puppy page for information on what to expect at this time.

However, not eating or drinking much can definitely lead to digestive issues and puppy constipation is one of them, so is dehydration and in small/tiny breeds hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can also result which can cause serious problems.

Although there may not be any big problem here, I would definitely recommend that you take little Max to see your vet asap, just to be on the safe side. Meantime I'd encourage him to drink as much as possible and water down his formula and give him extra water too - that should help him stay hydrated.

Hope this helps, best of luck with your cute little boy.
