puppy pooping problems

My two month old pit/german shepherd puppy was trying to use the bathroom and poop. He started and went like twice and then started trying to reach his rear and whined going in circles.

What could this be from and how do i fix it for him?

Hi Breanna
If your pup is straining to poop but can't, or his stools are very hard, he could be constipated. This isn't terribly unusual and there are several ways that you can help get his bowels moving again. Check out my A Constipated Puppy page for lots of tips and advice on this.

Constipation can be painful for a pup, it can even cause hemorrhoids, and this could be why he whined about it. However, if he seems to be in real pain for more than a minute or two, is pacing, panting, whining etc. a lot, then it could be that he's ingested something he shouldn't and it's caused an obstruction or blockage. This situation needs immediate veterinary attention, so if you have any inkling that this may be the case, get him to your vet asap.

Hope this helps, best of luck with your pup.

Puppy pooping problems/pain NEW
by: CX

My puppy is 2 and a half months. A month ago I have realized that he had a big hole in his orifice, where the poop comes out. I have taken him to emergency and to 2 different Vets. They have given stool softner, some medicine to make the instetine works, honey... HEcan poop now, but he cannot discharge the feces. The feces get hagging there, or either falling bit by bit while he moves around. I have to wash his back, at least 4 times a day. He is always dirty. The worst thing is that he cries when he wants to poop. Is there any type of surgery that can be done? Have you ever heard about that?
