Puppy Sick??

My three week old puppy is acting strange. Both of his eyes are shut with crust around them. Also he is weak and only walking into circles and when he attempts to walk his back end lifts up and he falls. He won't eat milk from his mother but he is drinking a little bit of water.

Also he mushy spot on his head is wide open as his brother and sisters is pretty much closed. He is the runt of the bunch. Does that have anything to do with it. He is also yelping and whining a lot.

This puppy is clearly sick and needs to be examined by a veterinarian right away. The crusted eyes and other symptoms indicate an infection of some sort, he may also have developmental problems.

The 'soft spot' on top of his head may mean that he didn't develop properly in the womb, however in chihuahuas (I'm not sure what breed your pup is), this soft spot may never close up properly and injury is possible due to there being no bone to protect the brain at that particular part of the skull.

I'm afraid I'm not a vet and I can't say what is wrong with your pup, but he absolutely must see a vet as he is in pain and/or distress and not feeling well at all.

Please get him the help he needs asap.
