I received a puppy from the SPCA on Saturday and everything seem to be great until this morning (Wednesday) The puppy, Sadie, threw up this morning 3x and it's clear/creamy looking. She played all day yesterday, but now she does not want to get up.
She ate yesterday, but this morning she is turning her nose up at any food. She is 4 month old and I'm really worried. I'm calling the vet as soon as they open, but I'm wondering is this possibly just a cold? The weather has been hot one moment and then freezing the next. I put a shirt on her to keep her a little warm.
She is a lab/Shepherd mix. Very sweet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Anna
I doubt the symptoms you describe are due to her catching cold, puppies or dogs really don't do that the way humans do.
Depending on how many sets of puppy shots Sadie has had, she could still be at risk of the more common, contagious dog illnesses. She could also possibly have eaten something she shouldn't which has caused the vomiting and so on.
Only your vet can really tell what's causing the problem so it's better to be safe than sorry and have her examined asap. Hopefully it's something minor and nothing to worry about but you need a professional evaluation for her. Best of luck, hope she's doing much better soon.
