Puppy sneezing, brings up white frothy foam

by Jennifer

My 10 week old cur puppy sneezes, has a runny nose, and occasionally chokes up frothy white liquid.

Hi Jennifer
You need to have this puppy examined by your veterinarian because these symptoms could mean a number of different things.

Some very serious dog illnesses cause discharge from the nose and/or eyes and coughing or gagging could indicate an infection in the chest too.

As your pup isn't old enough to have received all the puppy shots he needs to be fully protected from disease it's impossible to say which it is, although kennel cough is a distinct possibility.

Luckily kennel cough is something a dog usually recovers from on their own, although antibiotics are often needed for secondary infections that occur.

I'm not a veterinarian though and only a vet can make an accurate diagnosis by examining your puppy. Please get him an appointment asap so that you can find out what's wrong and get any treatment started if necessary.

Best of luck, hope he's doing much better soon.

Puppy, 3 yr old dog with kennel cough :(
by: Anonymous

Thanks so much for your reply. I took him to the vet this morning and they started him on an antibiotic. My 3 year old dog has the cough and sneezing, went back to the vet and he too has antibiotics. Is there anything else I can do to raise their immunity naturally?
