my puppy is lab mixed with pit.. he is 2 months old and a few days ago we noticed that he didn't walk all the way down on his front paws.
Today i noticed that this appears to be a problem for him cause he is falling over when he runs and sometimes when walking. it appears that he is walking on his legs not his paws. Is this normal?
It also looks as if he is bow-legged and his legs was not bent like this before either. Just concerned if he has broken something.
Hi
No, this isn't normal and from what you describe I think your pup is 'knuckling over'. It's often caused by a combination of things, including a deformity of the joints at the 'wrists', the wrong diet and/or letting a pup spend a lot of time on a slippery or slick surface (such as tile, polished wood floor etc.).
The good news for your puppy is that you've noticed this early, because with early treatment it can usually be corrected without surgery - by changing the diet and perhaps taping the legs etc.
The best article that I know of online which deals with this problem is here... Puppy Feed Program For Knuckling Over. I'd also recommend having your vet look at your pup, perhaps show him/her the article I've linked to and ask for some hands-on help dealing with it now.
Hope this helps, best of luck with your puppy.
