Puppy with only one eye is open!

What's wrong with my little puppy? He's about two weeks old and he's mixed with chihuahua and spaniel and only one of his eyes has opened so far! Will his other eye open? do puppy eyes usually open one or two at a time? I'm worried!

I don't want him to be a one eye dog! My brother says I should clean it with some water! Should i do that?

I wouldn't be panicking yet, puppies only begin to open their eyes somewhere between 10 days and 2 weeks of age, and often one eye opens up before the other one.

Don't mess with his eyes at all, you could do more harm than good. If the eye that hasn't opened seems 'sticky' or has discharge, then this pup needs to see a veterinarian as he could have an infection needing treatment. However, if it looks perfectly normal, just still closed, I wouldn't worry too much. It will likely open by itself soon enough.

If after several days, one eye is wide open and the other one is still shut, then take him to a vet so that he can take a look to make sure nothing is wrong.
