puppy with red bumps and hair loss

my puppy has red bumps on her " private area " and now is losing a little bit of hair in some places.

A couple of weeks ago we found a tick in her ear, but we pulled it out. The head got left in so we put clear fingernail polish on it. From that point on things have been happening.

When we first found the tick she wouldn't eat a couple days later but we got her to eat again and now other things are happening.

I'd recommend that you take your puppy to your vet so that you can find out exactly what is going on here.

Ticks can carry certain diseases, Lyme Disease being the most worrisome, and you can find out more about the symptoms etc. on my Lyme Disease In Dogs page. The symptoms you mention don't really 'fit' this condition, but all dogs are different and it has to be considered as a possibility.

The red bumps could be a staph infection, other bacterial infection, or even allergies. Dog allergies are fairly common, and this could also account for the hair loss. Another possibility for hair loss and a red rash is a parasitic disease called Mange, you can learn more about this on my Mange In Dogs page.

Only a vet can make an accurate diagnosis and in order to help your pup feel better, you need to find out what is causing the problems. Please get her an appointment as soon as you can. Best of luck, hope she's doing much better soon.
