Puppy with swollen and ouzing eyes

Our 12 week old doxie has swollen and oozing eyes this morning. Cries when you try to wipe them of even to put a warm or cold wash rag.

She was fine until yesterday and one eye seemed to be hurting. So this morning they are both swollen and have yellow stuff in them.

Healthy otherwise! What could cause this and what to do about it?

You need to get this puppy to your veterinarian right away as it sounds as though she has quite a severe infection which most likely needs to be treated with antibiotics.

It could be a localized infection (conjunctivitis) or it could be that a more systemic problem is showing itself in her eyes. Only your veterinarian can make an accurate diagnosis and get her the help she needs.

Left untreated an eye infection could cause serious problems such as loss of eyesight, or even (in very severe cases) loss of the eye itself. So, please do get her veterinary care just as soon as you can.
