I have a 14 wk old pure bred staffy. He has been wormed and has had his first vaccination.
Today my partner took him for a walk around the block and gave him a bath when he got home.
I noticed my pup had a few little lumps near his spine. He didn't have them before.
They don't seem to be bothering him and he seems happy enough. Does anyone know what this is?
Hi Shannon
There can be many reasons for puppies to develop lumps, bumps, spots and so on.... often there is a parasite to blame, or it could be a sign of dog allergies, an infection, bug bites and so on. It's impossible for me to tell which one though!
Staffy's can be prone to suffering from a skin condition caused by tiny skin mites, it's called Mange and can be diagnosed and treated by your vet. However, it generally shows up as a small rash of 'bumps' often with some patchy hair loss, but on the face/head/front legs rather than on the rear or back. But it could be this that you're seeing.
Or perhaps he has picked up some fleas, or been bitten by insects especially if he was rolling around in the grass etc. A contact allergy to something that his back came in touch with is also possible.
I'd keep an eye on his and see how this progresses and if they don't clear up within a few days then take him to your vet for an evaluation. That way you'll have a better idea of what's causing them and whether or not you need to do anything.
Sorry I can't help more but I wish you lots of luck and hope that your little guy is doing better soon.
