Emma, I am from Ireland also (living in Ca) and I just posted a comment concerning my 8mth old shihtzu who has the same problem. The past few days she has been squating to poop but it takes a long time for the poop to come out (almost like she's straing) yet she's not constipated and is otherwise acting fine. I did notice last night that her bum was red and maybe irritated. Hopefully we can get some good advice! :)

Hi, I have a grumpy old dog whom will be very upset if I try, (I did ) to remove poop stuck on her butt like down her back side. Horrible.. Dont know what to do. Do I try to just hold her down and pull it off ? I dont know. If it were spring maybe it would rub off outside but she is a heavy blue healer beagle mix and angry with people whom do anything she doesnt like. I cant give her a bath as she is to heavy and a bit feeble to put in tub... any ideas??? This is horrible I know.. hope you have a good idea for me. Nan
