runny poop

I am trying to switch my 8 week old puppy's food from Iams to Natures Balence and his poop is like water - will this go away?

Should I take him to the vet this weekend or wait until Monday?

Hi
A sudden change in diet is pretty much guaranteed to cause diarrhea. Whenever you switch foods, it's much better to do it gradually over a week or so, adding the new food to the old very slowly.

However, if the diarrhea is caused by the change in diet, it should improve over the next few days. Just make sure he gets plenty of water so that he doesn't get dehydrated.

If he shows any other signs of illness, such as vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite etc., I would strongly recommend that you take him to your veterinarian immediately. There are some very serious dog illnesses that puppies are prone to. Parvo is one of the most common, and most deadly. It's always better to be safe than sorry!

Good luck!
