Saving a Life

This is Timber when they found him and then the Month we adopted him.

My husband and I wanted to get a new member for our family. We had just bought a house and he was working nights. I thought it would be a good addition and could keep me company in a lonely house.

We began to look for a dog. I wanted a Puppy but we quickly decided that with our schedule we would not have the time and effort a puppy would need.

We started to look for an adult dog. My husband had grown up with German Shepherds so of course that was our first choice. We looked at every shelter in MA. We finally decided to go on petfinder. We looked for weeks and months before he saw the dog he wanted.

Timber was a 4 yr old Long-haired German Shepherd that had been removed from a high kill shelter on his last day by the Mid South German Shepherd Rescue.

These people are amazing. The took in Timber and nursed him back to health. Timber was 35lbs under weight had a heart murmur and sarcoptic mange over 75% of his body. He was in very bad shape.

After 7 long months of not knowing what was going to happen to him they were able to get him to a full bill of health and that is when we saw him. He was beautiful My husband looked once and said that is the dog. I was kind of nervous with him being 90 lbs. I was a little unsure also since we never got to meet him until he was transported to us.

There was no turning back. We got the house ready for the arrival of our new son. We drove to NH to meet him. When he came off the truck he was very intimidating looking but as soon as he met you he was a big mush.

He is the greatest dog/son I have ever had and he continues to bring a smile to my face EVERY day. He is just great.

I will always adopt a dog and never purchase. They need homes and it breaks my heart to hear what they do to those who do not find homes.
