Savior

by Courtney
(Texas)

clowning around, turning upside down

clowning around, turning upside down

You are our Jilly girl
soft, brown, and cuddly.
We love when you turn upside down
to look like a catfish
or make us laugh
with your wiggle butt.
You turn a "c" shape
when we get home,
and a smile comes from
your clown face.
When you came to us,
we didn't know
you were going to be this fun.
Saved from a terrible death in the shelter
or life unknown on the street.
I am sorry they injured you
with staples and strings for miles
that caused the never-ending infection.
The family before
left you to die
we took you in
so we could love you a lifetime.
You beat the others
the five million that die in shelters each year
or the four out of five puppies
that end up on the street.
Just too many are being born
we wished they would stop
and see the ones,
they could adopt.
Thank you Jill for saving our marriage.
We see God's grace and mercy
from the hope you provided.
We hope to give you
the best life a Boxer could ever have.
You came as a gift from God.
