Scabby, dry bald patches on my week-old puppy's back

That's about all there is really. The patches amount to no bigger than a centimeter in total, no vomiting or diahrrhea observed, area does not smell.

Could I put some pure aloe vera on this?

Thank you

Hi Kelly
Before you put anything on these patches I'd strongly recommend having your vet take a look at your puppy.

There are all sorts of possible reasons for puppy hair loss including parasitic issues such as Mange, fungal infections such as Ringworm, or allergies, hereditary conditions and more. Only your vet can make an accurate diagnosis and recommend treatment.

Best of luck, hope you get this taken care of and your pup is doing better soon.

I am a little worried NEW
by: Anonymous

The raised areas are elongated, and she is sleeping in a curled up in what looks like an uncomfortable position - doesn't seem well or strong. Just some extra info, thank you for your help.

Unable to go to vets NEW
by: Anonymous

I really don't feel that taking her to the vet is appropriate in this particular case, since I don't have a car, live at 2000m and the vet is 45 minutes car ride away (there are no buses). It's very cold and I don't feel that she could be seperated from the mother for such a length of time (3hs min - 6h sometimes when hitchhiking), as she is only 10 days old.

The hair seems to be growing back, and the patches are less obvious however there is a bumpiness under the coat which only appeared after the first day, and is quite widespread across her back and seems to cause her discomfort to touch.

I would greatly appreciate any advice from anyone who has already come across this problem.

As for worming, I am planning on doing it at 4 weeks as I read this was a good age to do so, using a natural wormer.

Thank you,

Kelly
