Noticed that has developed a large bump on his left side above his hind leg.

It's soft and under the skin it doesn't appear to be a bite or anything.

There isn't one on the other side and it doesn't seem to be affecting him at all.

I'd suggest that you have your vet take a look at this lump to make sure it's nothing to worry about, but my first guess would be that it's a simple sebaceous cyst.

These aren't malignant cysts, and they can pop up almost overnight, stay around for days or weeks, then disappear as quickly as they appeared.

However, there are other possibilities, so do have your vet take a look to be on the safe side.
